JEAN
COCTEAU (1889-1963)
French
writer, poet, film maker and artist known for such works as the
ballet Parade (a collaboration with Pablo Picasso and Eric
Satie) and the films Blood of a Poet and Beauty and the
Beast. He commented insightfully and poetically that Modigliani
turned his sitters into Modiglianis. A Modigliani portrait of Cocteau
is featured in the exhibition.
